Body of a man discovered under a bridge in Astley Village, Chorley

The body of a man was found under a bridge in Astley Village, Chorley in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police were called to the scene near McColl’s newsagents on Hall Gate at around 1.45am yesterday.

The man, in his 20s, had been discovered by a passerby.

Force incident manager inspector Kim Sturges said: “We were called to reports of a male under the bridge on Friday morning.

“The male was discovered by a passerby.”

Police are treating his death as “unexplained” at this point.

His family have been informed.

A body has been found in a search for a missing man

A body has been found in the search for a missing man.

The body was found at shortly before midday today (Saturday, February 25th) on Centurion Way at Farington.

While he has yet to be formally identified the body is sadly believed to be that of Michael Hutchinson who went missing earlier this week.

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances at this time.

Mr Hutchinson, 34, had last been seen at an address on Towngate in Leyland on Wednesday.

Our thoughts are with Mr Hutchinson’s family at this time and we would thank to thank all those who helped with the search to find him.

BREAKING: Mans body found outside a Preston office block

Emergency services were called to the sudden death of a man who is believed to have fallen from a Preston office block.

The body of a man was found near an office block in Preston on Thursday (2 February) morning.

They found a man’s body close to Neptune House, near the West Strand and Marsh Lane junction

A spokesman for Preston Police said: “We were called around 7.45am following reports of a sudden death in Preston.

“The body of a man has been found close to a unit off West Strand.

“The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ambulance services confirmed that they attended the scene at around 7.40am.

“The death is currently not being treated as suspicious and a post-mortem will be carried out in due course.”

UPDATE: Body of non-resident found at Preston sheltered home

Police investigated an unexplained death after the body of a non-resident was found at a Preston sheltered housing scheme.

Police were called to Maudland House on Maudland Bank shortly before 1.30pm on Monday 30 January after reports of concern for the welfare of a man.

Officers discovered the body of a man, believed to be in his 60s, dead inside the sheltered housing accommodation, say police.

A post-mortem was carried out and while the cause of death was unascertained, it is not believed to be suspicious.

A police spokesman said: “Police were called at shortly before 1.30pm Monday, January 30th to an address on Maudland Bank in Preston following concern for the welfare of a man.

“On arrival officers found the body of a man, believed to be aged in his 60s, deceased inside the address. “A Home Office post mortem examination has been carried out and while the cause of death is unascertained there are no suspicious circumstances.

A spokesman for the Gateway Association said: “Community Gateway Association (CGA) can confirm that the deceased body of a non-resident has been found at their housing scheme Maudland House on Maudland Bank.”

Maudland House consists of 30 flats and bedsits and is described as ‘communal sheltered housing accommodation’ on the Gateway Association website.

BREAKING NEWS : Body found in search for missing boy

Police searching for a missing boy following a fire in Parbold have found a body.

Emergency services were called around 3pm on Sunday (January 29) to Fairhurst Hall, Chorley Road after a fire at a barn.

Following the fire, Louis Simpson, 14, from Parbold, was reported missing.

After an extensive search of the area a body was recovered from the barn last night (January 30). While yet to be formally identified, the body is sadly believed to be Louis.

Louis’ family have been informed this morning and they are being supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts are with them at this time.

Enquiries are continuing to establish what has happened and what caused the fire, however at this stage there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

A post mortem examination will be carried out to try to establish the cause of death and a file will be passed to the coroner in due course.

In a tribute, Louis’ parents said:

“It is with deep regret and heartbreak that we can confirm the tragic loss of our beautiful, beautiful boy Louis James Simpson.
“We are all truly devastated but want to thank our amazing family and friends for their on-going love and support. We ask that our privacy is respected at this extremely difficult time”.
