Man, 32, from Warton dies after Preston collision

A 32-year-old man from Warton has died following a crash in Preston, say Police.

Officers were called around 5.30pm on Monday, May 8 to Riversway following reports of a serious incident.

A Peugeot Partner van travelling eastbound was involved in a collision with a man close to the junction with Pedders Lane, say police.

The man, from the Warton area, suffered significant injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment but sadly later died.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 57-year-old man, was not injured.

The road was closed for more than four and a half hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

Police are appealing for information following the incident.

Sgt Steve Hardman, of Lancashire Police’s Roads Policing Unit, said: “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this time.

“We are appealing for information and would urge anyone who can assist with our enquiries to come forward.

“If you witnessed the collision and have not yet spoken to police, please contact us.”

MANHUNT: Police search for suspect after stolen car crashes into van

A search is underway for a suspect “made off” when a car he was travelling in crashed into a van in Fulwood, say police.

A second man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle, close to the scene on Lightfoot Lane.

Police were alerted to the crash after a stolen Hyundai i30 crashed into the stationary van at around 11.20pm on April 3.

Force Incident Manager Grant Smith said: “The police helicopter and dog handling unit were called to assist police in a search after a stolen car crashed in Fulwood.

“One man was sighted running alongside the railway tracks. The man was apprehended by the police by the side of the track and taken to custody.

“We are still looking for a second suspect.

“Anybody with information regarding this incident should contact police on 101 quoting log number 1658 April 3.”

Audi driver crashes into barrier in Fulwood

A crash barrier near a primary school and leisure centre in Fulwood has been destroyed.

An Audi driver has seen significant damage to the front of their car during the incident in Black Bull Lane.

Preston Police are in attendance near Queen’s Drive Primary School where the silver car has been stopped

It is not thought anyone was hurt in the crash.

The crash happened around 3.50pm on Saturday (4 March) and caused minor delays.

Police said they hoped to have the road clear of wreckage by 5pm.

Woman taken to hospital after two-car smash in Preston

A woman was taken to hospital after a two-car smash in Preston this morning, say ambulance services.

The accident happened at around 9:45 am on Birch Avenue near Cottam Lane doctor’s surgery in Ashton-on-Ribble.

A white Ford and a red Mini were involved in the collision which saw the Mini mount the kerb.

The road was temporarily blocked by one of the cars involved in the accident, say police.

All cars have now been recovered and the road is clear.

The condition of the woman and the extent of her injuries are not known.

Woman cut free from car

A woman had to be cut free from a vehicle following a collision between two cars in Salmesbury this afternoon (March 1).

Two appliances and crews from Preston attended the scene at around 12.38pm where hydraulic equipment was used to remove the roof of the car.

The woman was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

The incident occurred on Preston New Road in the vicinity of the Salmesbury Hotel.

Lancashire Road Police is reporting no serious injuries as a result of the incident.

There are no traffic delays as a result of the collision.

Delays on southbound M6 after 4-vehicle crash

Two lanes are closed and traffic is queuing on the southbound M6 after a four-vehicle smash.

Lanes two and three have been closed between junctions 33 and 32 after a Vauxhall Insignia crashed into the central reservation, say police.

It is then believed that further vehicles then collided with the first car, they added.

Drivers have been suffering long delays following the accident which happened at around 5.30am.

Police have confirmed that a woman was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with non-life changing injuries.

A spokesman for NW Motorway Police said: “Four vehicles were involved [in the crash] they will be moved as soon as fire and ambulance services have finished working in the area.”

Car overturned in Blackpool Road crash

A section of a busy road in Preston has been closed during Tuesday evening.

Blackpool Road in Lea was shut heading out of the city after a car collided with a parked car.

Lancashire Road Police described the scene as a ‘mess’.

Police also seized a people carrier being driven by an unaccompanied provisional licence holder.

Traffic is running fine in the opposite direction in Blackpool Road.

The incident happened around 7pm on Tuesday (14 February).
