Police appeal for witnesses after crash involving six vehicles on M6 near preston

The M6 was closed for more then an hour on sunday evening while emergency services could clear the wreckage of a six car collision

Police are now appealing for any witnesses after a Land Rover reared into the wrong side of the motorway close to preston

The Land Rover crossed from the northbound carriageway into the southbound carriageway between Junction 31A and Junction 32.

The crash involved a Ford Focus, Ford Fiesta, Ford Ka, Audi and Volkswagen Golf, miraciously there were no serious injuries during the crash.

The incident which happenened around 6pm caused long delays on the M6 southbound in particular.

Emergency services reopened the motorway in both directions around 8.30pm on Sunday
Anyone with information can contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting log 1131 of January 29. No arrests have been made.

Driver in hospital after car crashes off the M6

A driver is in hospital after a crash on the M6 near Preston.

The car left the motorway on the southbound side near Junction 32 and went down an embankment and into a field.

The crash trapped the driver, four fire crews from Lancashire Fire and Rescue went to cut the driver free.

The incident happened at 2.56pm on Saturday (14 January), Fire and Rescue crews from Fulwood, Lancaster and Garstang responded.

One lane was closed on the motorway while they worked to free the driver.

The casualty was taken to Royal Preston Hospital by air ambulance.
