A manhunt is underway after a newsagent was threatened with a ‘makeshift weapon’ during an early morning robbery in Leyland, say police.
Officers received a call reporting the robbery from Towngate News on Towngate, at around 6am this morning.
The victim said that a man in a hi visability jacket demanded money and threatened him with a “make-shift" weapon.
Spokesman for Lancashire Police Steve Bradshaw said: “We were called to an incident at a newsagent early this morning where it appears that a man was threatened with a make-shift weapon.
“We believe that the offender was wearing a high visibility jacket, a blue hooded jacket and a black baseball cap that obscured his face. The robber stole around £30-50.
“Understandably, the man was very shaken up by this incident. We are now appealing for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area at that time to get in touch with us."
Nobody was injured during the robbery.
