New owners share plans for the former Emilios restaurant

Bellas Emilios, located at 138-139 Friargate, will become two separate units with Alicia Hardicker and Richard Withington becoming the owners of 139 Friargate.

The pair now plans to open a Thai Street Food Bar in place of Bella Emilios.

Entwistle Design Services submitted an application to Preston City Council’s Planning Department with the request of creating two restaurants with two separate kitchens.

The modification will also include the installation of new shop fronts and alterations to the front elevation.

Alicia Hardicker said: “The building will become two units, no one has taken the left side yet but we have taken 139 Friargate.

“We are turning it into a Thai street food bar, with a big influence from famous Thai street food.

“My partner Richard Withington has passed and got his alcohol personal licence and we are in process of applying for premises licence off the local council.

“My mother who will be a big influence owned two successful restaurants on Friargate a few years back, Bangkok Siam Thai and Bangkok Garden.

The building work for the property is nearly complete and will be ready to decorate and set up in about 3 weeks.

Alicia hopes to open the food bar at the end of August before UCLan welcomes its student for the new academic year.

Alicia continued: “We will be having a great low priced express lunch menu to go but also customers have the option to sit in, and we will also be offering discounts to students NHS workers and army personnel.

“If all goes well with the licence we will be offering a range of Thai and Asian beers, also Thai inspired cocktails.

“A Taste Of Thailand is going to have a very Thai Street vibe which will show throughout the decor and hand painted wall murals.”
