Barry Hawkins put on an incredible display of break building, making four centuries, to open up a commanding 6-3 lead over Ryan Day in the final of the Ladbrokes World Grand Prix in Preston. Taking it right through to a win of 10-7 to Barry Hawkins for this 2017 World Grand Prix Snooker competition.
Hawkins took the opening frame this afternoon and had looked set to snatch the second, before a missed red down the bottom cushion. The two-time ranking event winner made the first of his century breaks to take the third frame, compiling a run of 114. He then crafted a break of 102 to double his advantage at the interval with the score at 3-1.
Winning a massive £100,000 and the crown of this years Grand Prix. Hawkins says:
That is probably the best i have played in a while getting to 9-3 but all credit to Ryan. I was 9-3 down and Ryan came back to take a few frames from me, however i was delighted to get another chance to steal the frame to take the crown. I was really struggling throughout the final and toward the end i was worried. I am absolutely over the moon for wining this.
